Starfish Alliance Has a New Office!

Our new home is on the fourth floor of 665 Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio, which is near several bus stops and has easy access to I-71. We will move in after we spruce up the space with new paint and other updates. We are grateful to Bethany, a local foster care and adoption agency, for sharing space with us!

LINK22 May Meeting

Our May LINK22 meeting was a success. We had more than 20 in attendance. Whole Foods, Inc. taught us how to eat healthily on a budget. The Fitness Loft taught us how to workout anywhere with a full-body fitness routine. Nationwide Children’s Hospital was on site to share information about Medicaid with our members. We closed with “Open Mic,” which enables LINK22 members to share poetry, rap or words of encouragement with other members.

Meeting Young People Where They Are

This month, we received another notice of a young alumni of foster care in need of housing. Only 20-years-old, she had been living in her car. We sent a notice to our Starfish Allies and in less than 24-hours one of them offered to house the young lady for up to one month. Last week, we received notice that the host family had decided to lift the cap on how long the young lady could stay with them. She is welcome to stay as long as she needs, which affords her some much needed rest from the instability she has experienced.

If you are interested in becoming a trained host family or in working with the community to develop more housing options for youth who have aged out of foster care, please let us know.

Community Support

The Church at Polaris created a video to document how they raised money for LINK22 by creating and selling art. If you’d like to watch the heart-warming video, click the Download button below.
